- Challenge: How do you find the right specialty lawyer from a very small pool of candidates?
- Strategy/Action: REIT lawyers are pretty rare. Only a handful of law firms do this work. After reviewing candidates suggested by one of their law firms, Boston Properties felt they needed to affirmatively recruit for this high level position. They hired us and we identified and contacted all appropriate candidates. The position, while extremely attractive, in the short term paid less than the desired candidates were making in the law firms. We worked through compensation issues to make sure the candidates understood the likely differences between in house and law firm compensation and growth opportunities, particularly in the long term.
